Some Random pictures

I took this picture in Possotome, a little fishing village we visited a few weekends ago.  These kids were just fascinated with the yovos (white people) and loved our sunglasses!  

This little boy climbed up in my lap after about 30 seconds of hard staring at me.  He kept tilting his head to the side and pouting his lips in and out like a rapper.... adorable!  

Laura faced her fears and not only got in the water, but was willing to hold this fish for a microsecond.  

We went fishing with a couple of locals who taught us how to cast nets.

Most of the kids who have surgery on both legs have to be carried by their parents for 3-6 weeks.  This little girl was too big to carry, so one of our surgeons paid for us to get her a wheelchair.  After a very entertaining and adventurous afternoon of trying to buy one in town, be found one that didn't have elevating legs like we needed, but we modified it by taping this plastic bucket to the legs.  No, Benin doesn't have a Gould's Medical Supply like we have at home!  
This is a mom carrying her casted child, while carrying her purse on her right shoulder too and baby sister, perpendicular on her back!!  
When we do serial casting with plaster, to avoid the terror of the cast saw, we soak them in a bucket or bin for about 30 minutes.  This little boy was not a fan of anything the yovos did to him.  

These two little boys have had club foot releases and are staying at the hospitality center- a building that is for patients who can't afford to come back and forth between appointments... several nurses go over and visit and play with the kids who are staying there and they took pictures of these boys with the adult walkers we had left over there.  Both of these kids were supposed to be carried for 6 weeks and should'nt have been walking.  But... boys will be boys and I guess they got tired of crawling!  

This little girl is by far the cutest little one we've come across so far.  Her mom always dresses her up to come and see us and this day was no exception.  

One of the crew saw this guy biking around town.... you gotta do what you gotta do when your bike has no basket.....
